Many NYC residents who have limited English are not aware of the health and human services available to them. They can call 311 and now can learn about the programs as the information is available in over 170 languages and they can call anonymously without having to give their immigration status. Many residents fear enrolling themselves or their children in programs as they do not want to be deported.
